Mark Stanley managed to whoosh net two Jackdaws to colour ring in his garden at Chipstead today. Catching these adults for colour ringing has so far been tricky!!

Methods
The Southern Colour Ringing Group is running a project to study Jackdaws. The project covers a large area of the south-east of the UK and several group members are using the rings in London and the home counties.
Birds are caught either in mist nets or traps and birds are also ringed in nest boxes. We fit colour rings to birds ringed (orange with black letters and a three character alphanumeric code). There are many more bird-watchers looking for colour-ringed birds, so this greatly improves our chances of understanding the movements of the birds from this project.
